Mustang Adoption Challenge

100+ day training competition open to trainers novice and professional from across the US and Canada gentling and training Oregon's Wild Horses and Burros.  Here's how the competion works!

Trainer Applications

Applications are opened before the next event.  No training experience is required but horsemanship is strongly encouraged.  Trainers will complete their application by the due date along with the BLM adoption application.  Approved and selected trainers are notified by email

Pick up Day

Trainers will have about 100 days to gentle and train their mustangs.  We have two pick up locations:  Burns BLM Corrals and St Paul Rodeo Grounds.  Trainers will keep their mustangs for the duration of the competition at their BLM approved facilities.

Trainer Days

During the 100 days Teens & Oregon Mustangs will host multiple trainer days for current trainers and mustangs/burros to get additional training or help from Professional Trainers including Josh & Erica FitzGerald.  Trainer Days are also a great opportunity for current trainers to hand out with their fellow trainers where many lifelong friendships have been made!
